History
Extreme right Japanese media, such as the Sankei Shimbun paper, have assaulted the movie implicating it of distorting historical fact. In action, supervisor Ryoo Seung-wan has specified that "the movie is a fact-based fiction" based upon documents as well as first hand statement of making it through targets regarding their lack of resettlements, violent therapy, functioning problems prominent to fatality of laborers from illness, lack of nutrition, and accidents.
The writer-director disclosed that the movie wasn't made to mix nationalism or an anti-Japanese view and to show "how battle can make guy a beast".
At first, Japan recognized Oriental and Chinese forced laborers existed throughout Globe Battle II in its application to UNESCO for Globe Heritage standing for Hashima Island.
The recognition was a reaction to Southern Oriental resistance to the quote mentioning, "large numbers of Koreans and others were brought versus their will and forced to work under extreme problems in the 1940s at some of the websites".
However, once Hashima Island was approved as a UNESCO Globe Heritage Website, Japanese International Priest Fumio Kishida made declarations contradicting the previously recognition of the presence of forced laborers mentioning, "[forced to work under extreme conditions] by the Japanese federal government rep didn't indicate forced labor".
Although the UNESCO's Globe Heritage Board had required the facility of a tracking system to measure the level to which Hashima Island targets are remembered, the island's official tourist website and tour program - operated by Nagasaki City - makes no mention of forced laborers and presently doesn't make any initiatives to follow guaranteed UNESCO requirements
